Teacher Training Day for KS3-4
Join us for a training session on ‘Maths, Migration and Storytelling’
Monday 10th February, 9:30-3, Royal Geographical Society (with IBG)
This training day, and freely available four-lesson unit of work, will support you to use a real data set from one of Europe’s largest academic research projects, along with a powerful visual story, to help your pupils critically engage with the realities of migration – through maths. Developed by teachers, and tested out in schools, this unit provides students with the opportunity to:
- Apply statistics to authentic data and develop a stronger conceptual understanding
- Explore a big data set, hugely beneficial in preparing students for A Level mathematics
- Think critically about migration
- Make links across the curriculum – with links to geography, art, english, drama, and ICT
- Use data to support an argument and experiment with novel ways to present data
Places are limited so please book to avoid disappointment.
A limited number of bursaries for £100 each are available for teachers from state school.
This event has been generously funded by the Shine Trust and Coventry University.
