BeyondText is PositiveNegatives’ not-for-profit partner for context-sensitive participation. From comics and award-winning documentaries, to open-source comics’ research protocols and participatory informed consent, BeyondText co-produces stories, tools and shared learning. You can find out more below, visit BeyondText or send a message.
Co-producing Comics
BeyondText co-produces comics, and the first of these is IF Comics, a comic about self-harm being co-produced with, by and for young people, with comic artist Hanna Gwyn and psychologists at the NHS South London & Maudsley Trust. IF Comics is also creating a replicable open-source protocol for co-producing comics about sensitive mental health issues with the aim of launching an anthology. Find out more at BeyondText’s talks at Comics and/as Resistance with Oxford Comics Network and the Graphic Medicine Conference. More>
Co-producing Stories
As well as comics, BeyondText supports stories in whatever form a group needs. BeyondText’s first documentary-animation, Lives On Hold, Our Stories Told – co-produced with young people seeking asylum and researchers from University of Liverpool, IOE and Southampton – was a finalist in the Charity Film Awards. Tools & Shared Learning
BeyondText is also developing tools and facilitating shared learning, including co-producing context-sensitive informed consent tools with communities and researchers in Lebanon as part of GOAL with LSHTM, War Child and the Lebanese Mental Health Programme. More >
