Mia Jose is a non-binary illustrator, writer, art director and devourer of all things camp and horror. Having been trained as a lawyer, she left her legal career behind in 2022 to pursue her art practice, working with various organisations like Hachette, The Caravan, Internet Freedom Foundation, Queerbeat and Qomix to create graphic narratives and visuals engaging with themes of climate change, mental health, privacy and binding legal structures. Her personal work runs across illustrated series, comics and zines, to which end she has also received grants and fellowship support. Informed by her identity and roots in South India, this work navigates the intersections of queerness, inheritance and the dialogue between our bodies and physical spaces. She is currently working on an anthology of comics, “Regards, Your Skin” which uses horror and science fiction to tackle how our bodies subvert our expectations from them.
