Jangul: Conflict and Drug Trafficking in Afghanistan’s Borderlands
This research-led comic, featured in The Conversation and Vice, is based on a life history, detailing the true story of one person’s experiences with drug trafficking and the ongoing conflict in the borderlands of Afghanistan.
Jangul’s story is featured in Voices from the Borderlands, Drugs & (dis)order’s annual flagship publication on illicit drugs, development and peacebuilding, which aims to bring to light some of the experiences and perspectives the research project has been hearing in fieldwork across seven drug- and conflict-affected borderlands of Afghanistan, Colombia and Myanmar.
The comic was illustrated by Kruttika Susarla. It was co-produced by PositiveNegatives and Drugs & (dis)order – in collaboration with OSDR and AREU.
